2 Background 2003 Five members Met monthly Developed first programme of work Youth Development Officer and Education Officer Members of the 2003 Committee contributed to a Living History arts project at Derry Credit Union

3 Our Vision To instil in our youth a realisation that a co- operative, self-enabling approach to financial affairs can be an integral part of their future Do so through promoting: –Philosophy, principles and values of credit unions –Financial services, and –Meaningful and active participation

4 Our Aim To provide opportunity to develop a life-long involvement with the credit union Members help out at the credit union AGM.

5 Our Objectives Good personal financial practices Loyal, responsible membership Broaden outlook Develop leadership potential Provide future leaders for the credit union Serve our members through helping at key credit union events

7 How we are organised Education Committee: Membership includes the Youth Development Officer and Education and Training Officer Board of Directors: Appoint Education Committee, Youth Development Officer and Assistant; approve annual budget for Youth Committee

14 Meetings Members elect their officers each October: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and PRO Meetings are held in the credit union Board Room.

15 Meetings Monthly meetings Agenda and Minutes Training on how meetings are conducted and the roles of officers Minutes are distributed one week in advance (by post or email).

16 Work Plan Drawn up annually for year ahead Annual activities and dates New activities or projects and dates Budget Set by the Board of Directors £1,000 per year To pay for printing of quarterly newsletters, two socials per year, refreshments, gift vouchers for members leaving, etc.

17 Annual Activities Poster Competition Members help put up posters for judging and then organise them according to schools in order to return them.

18 Annual Activities Local stage of the Annual Schools Quiz Members distribute and collect answer sheets, monitor the hall, hand out the lemonade and crisps, and clean up at the end.

19 Annual Activities Annual General Meeting Right: Members wait backstage before the start of the AGM. Their tasks include seating members, directors and speakers; collecting ballots and conducting the prize draw.
