2 14” 52” Garment 14” 21” 10” 1.Turn under ¼” and finish around the 12” and 14” sides of the facing piece. 2.Align the 10” sides of the facing piece onto the 10” sides of the larger piece, right sides together. Sew ¼” to ½ “ seam all around the 10” sides. 3.Fold facing piece back and iron seams flat. Sew finished edge of facing to the underside of the garment around all three sides. 3 3 Garment (wrong side) 4.Finish the edges of two 14” by 4” rectangles in a stiffer fabric. Sew the rectangles onto the wrong side of the garment about 5” from the outer edges so that the rectangle is centered when the arm piece is folded by one-third. This stiff fabric creates a barrier to prevent the craft sticks from protruding through the knit fabric and poking the child. 5.Finish the edges all the way around the garment, rolling the unfinished edges under and using ½” seams. Facing now attached 5” Stiffer fabric now attached

4 6.Fold the outer edge of the garment toward the center by one-third. 7.Use a ¾” craft stick or tongue depressor as your guide to sew five pockets in the bottom half of the folded-over section of the garment. Repeat the fold and the pockets for the other side of the garment. Garment (wrong side) (wrong side) Stitches forming pockets

5 8.Sew three 3” pieces of the scratchy side of the velcro along the inner bottom portion of the garment, about 1” apart, with the scratchy side facing up. 9.Sew three pieces of the fuzzy side of the velcro on the right side of the garment so that the fuzzy pieces are lined up with the scratchy ones. Scratchy velcro, scratchy side down Fuzzy velcro (right side) (wrong side) scratchy side up

6 Craft sticks or tongue depressors in their pockets. 10.Prepare garment by inserting 10 craft sticks or tongue depressors into their pockets, and folding the outer third of the garment in toward the center. The garment is now folded and ready to be worn.

7 Center child on top of the folded garment and loop the sides of the garment firmly up and over the arm. Secure the rolled arms snugly with the velcro closure. To clean, remove the craft sticks and secure the velcro before machine washing and drying.
