1 Chapters 1-4 Review! Likes/dislikes What are you like? Classes Time School supplies Subject Pronouns -ar verbs! -er verbs! IR!

2 Likes and Dislikes! To talk about what we like we use: Me gusta + activity.  Me gusta escuchar musica. To talk about what we DON’T like we use: No me gusta + activity.  No me gusta ayudar en casa. ayudar en casa = help around the house limpiar= to clean

3 Now ask someone… ¿ Que te gusta hacer? What do you like to do? *Write an answer for 2 people near you if they like to do the following two activities pictured below! ¿ Te gusta ___________?

4 ¿ Como eres? What are you like? To talk about what YOU are like we use: Yo soy +adjective to describe ourselves.  Yo soy muy organizada. (girl)  Yo soy muy organizado. (guy) To ask someone else we say: ¿ Como eres? ¿ Eres…o….? ( …is where we insert our adjective!) ¿ Eres….? o=OR y=AND

5 Now ask 2 near you! ¿Eres….? 1.Ask one person if they are funny. 2.Ask the other if they are lazy. In Spanish!!!

6 My classes/schedule To talk about our classes, we use the verb TENER=to have We conjugate to the “yo” form to talk about our own classes, and we conjugate to the “tu” form to ask about their classes Tener-conjugated/changed to “yo”=TENGO, “TU”=TIENES  Yo tengo la clase de español. When we talk about which class we have we say: “la clase de + class name

7 What time do you have….? When we want to talk about the times we have classes we use: A las + hour = 2-12 o’clock A la + hour =1 o’clock  Tengo la clase de espanol a las dos y cincuenta. What period do you have English? ¿ En que hora tienes las clase de espanol? Tengo la clase de espanol la tercera hora.

8 Asking others! Ask others with this question! ¿ A que hora tienes tu clase de matemáticas? Ask two people near you what time they have English or History. Write out the two questions you asked!

9 What do you need? Talk about what you NEED for your class using: Necesitar-in the ‘YO’ form… Yo necesito -in the “tu” form… Tu necesitas Para=for ¿Que necesitas para tu clase de espanol?  Yo necesito un diccionario para mi clase de espanol.

10 Ask 2! Ask two friends what they need for their math class and their English class from the items pictured below. ¿ Que necesitas para tu clase de matematicas? Yo necesito una calculadora para mi clase de matematicas.

11 Feminine or Masculine? Libro, ends in an “o” therefore we assume it’s MASCULINE! Diccionario, ends in an “o” therefore we assume it’s MASCULINE! Mochila, ends in an “a” therefore we assume it’s FEMININE! Regla, ends in an “a” therefore we assume it’s FEMININE!

12 Subject Pronouns! Who are we talking about in our sentence?

13 CONJUGATE WHAT??? Don’t forget, conjugating simply means: TO CHANGE THE FORM OF THE VERB. Estudiar: to study, lets conjugate it!...this chart below should look familiar! estudio estudias estudia estudiamos estudiais estudian

14 Definite/Indefinite Articles We use these to say “the”, “a”, or “some” el/la/los/las=the, in the feminine and masculine forms, singular and plural un/una/unos/unas=a, in the feminine and masculine forms, singular and plural Tell your friend that you have “some” books… Tell your friend that you have the backpack.

15 Places/Seasons In chapter 3 we learned to talk about WHERE we GO and WHEN/DURING WHAT SEASON.  Me gusta ir a la piscina durante la primavera. Or we CONJUGATE IR so we can simply say “I go” to the pool during the springtime.

16 Conjugating IR-to go voy vas va vamos vais van  Yo voy al gimnasio durante el invierno.  Ella va al gimnasio durnate el invierno.  Notostros vamos al gimnasio durnate el invierno.

17 Where do you go?/ What do you play?  ¡ Me gusta ir a las fiestas de mis amigos! “Me gusta jugar tenis. Me gusta mucho practicar los deportes. Yo soy muy atletico.” 

18 ¿ Con? To talk about who you are going with, or who is going with you, we use con + a pronoun. UNLESS we are saying With me=CONMIGO With you=CONTIGO Con el Con ella Con usted Con ellos Con ellas Con ustedes Con vosotros Con nosotros contigo conmigo

19 Asking others… Lets ask someone if they want to come with us…  ¿ Quieres ir conmigo a la fiesta? Yo quiero=I want Tu quieres=you want Now ask your partner if they want to “play videogames” with you Friday.  “Quieres jugar videojuegos conmigo el viernes?”

20 Let’s Eat! We need to conjugate again! But this time with “er” endings…we have not learned these ending until chapter 4! como comes come comemos comeis comen

21 Preferir/Me gusta Remember, we can say we “prefer” or we “like” or we “love” different foods.  Yo prefiero las papas fritas.  Me gusta el bistec.

22 Do I like it or love it? LOVE IT!

23 ¿ Preguntas? Our next task is: Write a letter telling about: What you like to do What you are like What classes you have What time your school day starts/ends What extracurricular activites you are involved in Where you like to go when your not in school and what season What you like to eat and drink and what you can eat from the cafeteria
