the story so far… the universal sinfulness of humanity god’s plan to put things right – justification by faith it’s the same plan he’s always used we are now at peace with god we should live righteously - although we struggle with sin the love of god will never let us go

chapter 9 – the israelites vs 1-5 – paul’s torment over his people vs 6-29 – who are god’s people? not all ‘israel’ are ‘israel’ god has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy the inclusion of the gentiles (by faith) only the ‘remnant’ of israel will be saved vs 30-32 – righteousness must be pursued by faith rather than law

chapter 10 – there is no difference vs 1 – paul’s desire for his people vs 2-4 – they have not embraced god’s righteousness in christ vs 5-13 – the way of salvation is nearer than they think vs 14-21 – the obstinacy of god’s people

chapter 11 – ‘israel’ and salvation vs 1-9 – god has not rejected his people paul himself is a jew the remnant is larger than it appears but some jews have rejected god’s righteousness vs 10-24 – the kindness and sternness of god there is hope for the jews in the future paul attempts to arouse jealousy among the jews paul appeals for gentile humility vs 25-32 – all ‘israel’ will be saved vs 33-36 – a cry of worship

application if you believe and confess… there is no difference… election – jesus, out of every nation – if you continue… the foundation of love in the church paul’s intention paul’s hope and ours
