1 Turkey 2014

2 he Turkey vulnerable to Russian power in the Black Sea With the annexation of Crimea, Turkey faces a stronger and bolder Russian naval power in the Black Sea. A resurgent Russia may be tempted to exploit its temporary naval dominance to alter current Black Sea energy exploitation and transportation arrangements more in its favor and to the detriment of Turkey and its partners in the Caucasus. With the annexation of Crimea, Turkey faces a stronger and bolder Russian naval power in the Black Sea. Russia now possesses the Ukrainian navy’s submarine and several, if not most, of Ukraine’s 11 major surface combatants. Even without the Ukraine’s naval assets, Russia’s own new additions to its Black Sea Fleet will enable Moscow to dominate the region. Russia recently put to sea the first of its six Admiral Grigorovich-class frigates. All six frigates are designated for service in the Black Sea Fleet. These Russian procurement programs alone will quickly tilt the balance of naval forces in Russia’s favor Jerusalem Post, April 19, 2014 EVENT COMMENT The king of the north will storm out with chariots, charioteers, and a vast navy. He will invade various lands and sweep through them like a flood. He will enter the glorious land of Israel, and many nations will fall, ….He will conquer many countries, and even Egypt will not escape. BIBLE QUOTE (Daniel 1140-41) This was a very interesting article in the Jerusalem Post a few weeks ago looking at how Turkey could be seriously affected by Russia’s growing power and strength. Turkey has a large military naval force in the Black Sea but now Russia has taken over Crimea this delicate balance has shifted towards Russia. Russia of course captured Ukraine’s naval assets when it annexed Crimea increasing overnight its naval strength. Another even more serious destabilising situation might come with gas pipelines. Currently Russia transports some gas through Turkish waters to avoid Ukraine’s boundaries. Now Crimea is part of Russia it could change the route of the pipeline and bypass Turkey. The Bible speaks of a vast Russian navy coming down into the Middle East. Events in Crimea have positioned Russia in a very strong position to do this…

3 Turkey backs military action against Isil Turkey's parliament has authorised military action against the Islamic State jihadist group, whose fighters have battled their way to the doorstep of a key town across the border in Syria. The move allows the deployment of armed forces in Syria and Iraq, as well as the transit of foreign forces in Turkish territory for operations against IS militants. The broad mandate does not commit Turkey to sending soldiers into the two neighbouring countries, where IS has captured large areas, declaring an Islamic "caliphate" and committing widespread atrocities. Washington has been striving to build an international alliance against the jihadists. Five Arab nations have participated in the strikes on Syrian soil while the same number of European countries have committed aircraft to Iraq. Daily Telegraph, October 2, 2014 EVENT COMMENT The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. Ephraim = northern Israel.. See Psalm 83:8 - Assur = Assyria BIBLE QUOTE (Isaiah 17:3-4) This new Islamic State appeared from nowhere just months ago and now many nations are fighting a war against it. Australia (one of the young lions of Ezekiel 38) joined the fray this week as well as Turkey. Conducting military airstrikes now includes America, UK, Australia, Saudi Arabia. The very same nations that make up the opposing force (the king of the south) mentioned in Ezekiel 38:13. ISIS covers almost identical territory to ancient Assyria and in many ways behaves like they did as well. Barbaric in the extreme- showing no mercy. It cannot be a coincidence in these last days an ancient Assyria suddenly appears. Assyria of course came against the northern kingdom of Israel. In Psalm 83 we read of Assur (Assyria) joining forces with peoples like the Philistines (Palestinians) in attacking Israel. When Damascus falls (quite possibly in this conflict) we read that NORTHERN Israel is greatly weakened. Assur helps do this.

4 Putin Diverts Pipeline from Europe to Turkey President Vladimir V. Putin said Monday that he would scrap Russia’s South Stream gas pipeline, a grandiose project that was once intended to establish the country’s dominance in south-eastern Europe but instead fell victim to Russia’s increasingly toxic relationship with the West. It was a rare diplomatic defeat for Mr. Putin, who said Russia would redirect the pipeline to Turkey. He painted the failure to build the pipeline as a loss for Europe and blamed Brussels for its intransigence. The decision also seemed to be a rare victory for the European Union and the Obama administration, which have appeared largely impotent this year as Mr. Putin annexed Crimea and stirred rebellion in eastern Ukraine. Russia had long presented the $22 billion South Stream project as a sound business move. But Washington and Brussels had dismissed it as a thinly veiled attempt by the Kremlin to cement its position as the dominant supplier in Europe. New York Times, December 1, 2014 EVENT COMMENT Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. BIBLE QUOTE (Ezekiel 38:6-7) The fall out from the war within Ukraine is increasing. The €40 billion ($50 billion) pipeline was to have transported Russian gas from the Black Sea coast through Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary to Austria, bypassing Ukraine en route. Another pipeline would have supplied Italy via Greece. The European Commission has been working to torpedo the construction of South Stream for some time. They viewed what Putin was doing as seeking to control eastern Europe. So Putin has now turned away from Europe and is now looking at Turkey. Some of the gas will still end up in Europe but Turkey is now the gateway to doing this. Turkish newspapers celebrated this as a Turkish-Russian energy alliance. Turkey is Togarmah in Ezekiel 38 and is on side with Russia when it invades Israel. Therefore this alliance must be part of that build-up.
