Operating 8,600 stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam. Approximately 250,000 employees. 9100 total locations. 75% of the US Population (311 M people) live within 5 miles of a Walgreens. Filled ~819 Million Prescriptions in 2012. 23 Distribution Centers. Founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1901. Walgreens' headquarters is located in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield. Holdings include Happy Harry’s, Drugstore.com, Duane Reade and 45% stake in Alliance Boots (UK).
