2. NBCUniversal Recap We engaged Naviscent to conduct an analysis of the user experience design of the DSR administration functionality and interactions. 2

3. NBCUniversal Project Goals Highlight options that look to increase the usability of the DSR admin interface. Show examples of industry user experience best practices updates that can be made and user flow updates that should be considered. Provide insight into streamlining and simplifying the DSR admin processes in order to increase efficiency. Look to: Decrease cycle time Eliminate user mistakes Reduce end user training time Propose next steps for how to redesign the entire DSR including the Admin Tool and Viewer. 3

6. NBCUniversal Suggested Interface Updates – Current Ingest Screen 6 1 1 1.Overhaul the metaphor A.The navigation is set up for database administrators as opposed to everyday users. This needs to be reorganized. (See additional slides for more details on how). B.Reorder the fields into an order that makes sense to the user. (See suggested updates for additional details). 2.Eliminate mistakes – Display name should be auto filled by the system to eliminate frequent mistakes. (format of display name TBD and to be decided by NBC’s internal teams). 3.Apply Usability Best Practices A.Rename Asset Expiry to be Expiration date. Rename Search Tag to be Tags. B.Remove FLX File, PH File, & Priority fields (these no longer apply). 4.Apply Usability Best Practices A.Add “Add New” as a selection option to Show, Content type, Season and Episode and allow the user to do these on this screen. This removes the New Episode fields. (Example on suggested updates slide). B.Make dropdowns combination dropdown, text field so that user can begin inputting an item to search for it in the dropdown list. C.Allow correction/deletion of misspelled data. 5.Make personalization a priority – default dropdown choices as much as possible. Default the users’ location, content type, season and subcategory to avoid them selecting the wrong choice. 2 3 4 3 6 1 5 3

7. NBCUniversal7 Suggested Interface Updates - Navigation updates 1.Assets – approval, editing metadata, deleting has been merged. 2.Users – Business Units and Groups have been folded into the Users section as all of these data are related. Profiles and Roles are subcategories under each item. 21

NBCUniversal Suggested Interface Updates – Ingest Screen 8 1.Apply Usability Best Practices - Update background color to be light, and the text color to be dark to have a contrast level that is easy to read. 2.Apply Usability Best Practices – example of putting “Add New” option in the dropdown selections so that the user can complete task without leaving the screen. Clicking would bring up a pop up with “New Episode / Category” fields. 3.Apply Usability Best Practices – Combine the Ingest and Approve actions in one screen in order to decrease clicking around in the application and increase cycle time. After Upload has been clicked, Approve becomes active. (Additional Slide show flow improvement). 4.Apply Usability Best Practices – Redundant watermarking has been removed as it is unnecessary here. NBCUniversal Next Steps Short-term Remove unused functionality (PH file, FLX, Priority fields in the ingest screen) Rearrange remaining fields/functions based on proposed design (Update navigation to short term navigation map on page 10) Pre-populate fields based on system knowledge (Show, Category, Sub category, Location, Display Name) Enable correction or deletion of misspelled data (Show, Category, Sub category, Location, Display Name) Rename fields to be in-line with users expectations (Asset Expiry = Expiration Date, Search Tag = Tags) Medium-term Invest in customized admin site based on user profile Invest in design for a dashboard Long-term Allowing users external to the NBC network to ingest files. Updating browser compatibility. Fixing trusted site issue in IE. Updating the necessary file format to be more inline with current and future video standards.
