Seminars and Conferences 4 Nov 2011 - National Library of Australia, Canberra – organised and ran a free public seminar: “Creative Commons for You, and for Government” held in the theatre on lower ground floor. Program (from 10am to 3.00pm) included presentations by Professor Anne Fitzgerald, Neale Hooper and Cheryl Foong of CC Australia. Case studies were presented by Miles Nicholls of the Australian Living Atlas (ALS), a CSIRO initiative, and by Anthony Baxter of Google’s Crisis Response Centre. Over 100 registrants attended from all 3 levels of government, as well as the research institutes and tertiary institutions, and a broad cross- section of the general public. Notable attendees from the research sectors included officers from CSIRO, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and Australian Research Council, and also students and researchers from the University of Canberra. Several officers from the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPaC), and Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) were also in attendance.
