2 DALI „Digital Addressable Lighting Interface“
DALI is not a definition of a system! DALI is the definition of the COMMUNICATION between a controller and the electronic ballast. DALI ist specified in the standard IEC 62386 therefore the devices of the different manufacturers are exchangeable and the function is guaranteed

3 Principal function DALI:
General function: Digital dimmed electronic ballast (DALI) have a mains supply (230V/AC) and a 2-pol. data input. The communication is via digital data communication. A DALI System consist off DALI devices (controller and electronic ballast) who allow an individual lighting control per room. - This would mean the manual or automatically switching or dimming of different luminaires - With specific sensors a daylight lighting control with cost saving effects will be possible - With the possibility of the programming of specific light scenes it will be possible to have different lighting effects in a room ( e.g. presentations, meetings, videos etc. )

4 Principal function DALI:
- Due to the fact that DALI is limited in the quantity of devices the DALI lighting control can be used for a small room mainly which would mean a complete building must be separated in small parts. A DALI-system allows the following devices: - max. 64 devices ( Individual addresses ) per DALI-System max. 64 EVG`s - max. 16 groups ( group addresses ) max. 64 individual devices can be distributed in max. 16 groups - max. 16 lighting scenes per DALI-system max. 16 light scenes can be programmed to the 16 different groups.

6 Technical data of DALI:
- Data signal by voltage : 16V (min. 11,5V - max. 22,5V) - max. voltage drop between transmitter and receiver: 2V - power consumption per device max. 2mA - total power consumption per system max. 250 mA - max. cable distance 300m - all installation topologies are possible except loop topology - data transfer rate 1200 bit/Sek. - the cable and terminals for the data transmission must be the same as for 230V --> therefore it is possible to use one cable for the power supply and the data transmission ( e.g 5x1.5 mm²)

7 Advantage of DALI: - each device has its own address so that they are individually programmable (group assignment / lighting scenes ) - due to a check signal luminaire failure will be transmitted - data cable bipolar (exchangeable) - programmable lighting level at data interruption - programmable how fast the lamp should dim - no resistors at data cable-end necessary - data transmission failures will be identified

10 A DALI bus system is only for lighting management.
DALI in comparison to EIB/LON Bus systems: A DALI bus system is only for lighting management. DALI is not as complex as a BMS via EIB or LON (e.g. controlling of air-condition system access control etc.) In general it is possible to connect DALI via „gateways“ into BMS system as a “subsystem”

11 CEAG and DALI - conventional solution:
In the past we could use DALI system in the emergency lighting circuit only with high expenditure: Disadvantages: - higher installation cost - higher material cost - space in the EML device DALI-Controller EVG SKU Mains monitoring Emerg. Oper. With switch over of the data signal to the 100% level the electronic ballast will have 100% light output . Control relays Dim signal 100% Data cable Power cable HV/UV-SV

13 Description of CEAG new V-CG-SB module
First address switch (decade) Generally 2 different applications are possible for the use of the module 2L CG-SB. a) Standard application with an external DALI-Controller connected (Extern - right 0, 1, 2) b) Special application without an external DALI-Controller connected (Intern - left 0, 1, 2) One of these applications must be selected with the left address switch, which is in combination also used for setting the decade address 0 or 10 or 20 (plus the single address x of the right single address switch). Second address switch (single) Switch for addressing the single address 1 to address 9 (0 = without monitoring) Third switch is for the adjustable lightoutput level in DC Battery operation value 10% to 100% (in 10% steps) Input external DALI-Bus D1, D2 L (+) Power supply by ZB-S or CG2000 Output external DALI-Bus D1´, D2´ to the DALI ballast N (-)

14 Description of CEAG new V-CG-SB module
a) Standard application with external DALI-Controller With the V-CG-SB module in Standard application the individual luminaire monitoring and the control of DALI electronic ballast of different suppliers is possible! Operation modes with Emergency lighting systems are 1. Normal operation mode: - the brightness of the lamp is dimmed by the external DALI controller - the luminaire can be switched to 100% with CG-S function (e.g. for services) 2. Emergency operation in AC mode: - light output 100% independent of the external dimming controller and the settings at the V-CG-SB 3. Emergency operation in DC mode: - the external dimming controller will be without function, the electronic ballast will be dimmed to the chosen DC dimmlevel of the V-CG-SB (10 to 100% in 10% steps).

16 Description of CEAG new V-CG-SB module
b) Special application without external DALI-Controller With the V-CG-S module in this special application it is possible to use and to monitor DALI electronic ballast like usual electronic ballast, but with a reduced lightoutput in DC emergency operation. Operation modes with Emergency lighting systems are 1. Normal operation mode: - Function like a normal V-CG-S - DALI electronic ballast can be switched to ON (100%) or OFF (0%) with CG-S function 2. Emergency operation in ACmode: - light output 100% 3. Emergency operation in DC mode: - the DALI electronic ballast will be dimmed to the chosen dimmlevel of the CEAG V-CG-SB (10 to 100% in 10% steps).
