1
THE LORD OUR PROVIDER -Gen.22;1-14. Phil. 4:19
2
-God’s provisions are always greater than our problems. -Human’s resources cannot be compared with God’s unlimited provisions -Where God guides, he provides. -Divine resources are never exhausted. -God first created resources before human kind -God’s resources equal our requirements
3
-Our doubts and worries would disappear if we would look Phi. 4:19. “My God shall provide all your need according to His riches in glory.” Not our wants -One of the greatest promises in the Bible. -There is no limit to the glorious riches -We can count on God’s supply, because the check is signed by God himself. -We do not prove the resources of God until we trust Him for the impossible.
4
TEST OF FAITH -Earlier God had told Abraham to send Ishmael and Hagar away and to concentrate on Isaac because it was through Isaac he will be blessed. Text -V 2. Sometimes later, God told Abraham take your son whom you love and go to region of Moriah and sacrifice him there. -This command must be confusing to Abraham, but he had to believe that God always knows what he is doing.
5
-V. 3 The next morning, Abraham set out for Mt Moriah which was 50 miles, taking his son, two servants and a donkey -V. 4 They travelled for two full days and on the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. -V 5b He left his servants behind with donkeys because he knew they would be an obstruction to His doing God’s will.
6
-Doing God’s will may a time require throwing away off everything and people. Heb. 12; 1ff -V.5b Abraham assured the servants “we will worship and then come back to you” -Was he anticipating the miracle that would take place? -Strangeness of having everything needed for sacrifice except animal prompted Isaac to ask. Where is the lamb?
7
-Abraham knew that Isaac was his son from God. -God wants us to have this perspective on everything we have, is ours, but is on loan to us from God. -Can you imagine Abraham feelings when the lord told him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice? -Think of what went through his mind when they climbed Mt Moriah and Isaac ASK where is the Lamb?
8
-Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so (Amos 3;3). -Yet Abraham had faith that God would provide and assured his son of his confidence. -God refines us through difficult circumstances. -Obeying God is often difficult because it may mean giving up something we truly struggle
9
ACT OF OBEDIENCE -In this act of obedience, Abraham was confessing that the lord was his God and provider. -Abraham was right, God pointed out a ram in thicket. -Abraham called the place Jehovah Jireh which indicates that God sees beforehand what our needs.
10
-Our response to the will of God is a clear reflection of whether we fear God or not -Our lives are constantly tested in this regards. -We may not know what tests the lord may have for us. -The way may appear to be very strange, but the Lord sees everything from beginning to end. -V14 Abraham named the place…the Lord will provide, on the mountain of Lord it will be provided
11
GOD KEEPS HIS WORD -We do not need to go to Mt Moriah to receive your……God can answer us right where we are, the issue is to believe and wait to see. -Ps.89:34 my covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of my lips. -Isa. 40:8 His words stand forever. -Isa. 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper. -Isa 41:10 I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.
