Peer review is the evaluation of work by one or more people of similar competence to the producers of the work (peers). It constitutes a form of self-regulation by qualified members of a profession within the relevant field. – Wikipedia What is Peer Review?
19
Peer-Reviewed Sources ● We require our articles to be based off peer- reviewed sources ● Prior to publication, the article was reviewed for accuracy by an expert in the field ○ This allows academics to hold themselves and their colleagues to a certain level of integrity and excellence ● You will need to provide 3 for a proposal
20
Peer-Reviewed Sources ● National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) hosts biomedical databases ○ PubMed: biomedical literature ○ Tools: GenBank, BLAST, etc. ● Primary Sources vs. Secondary Sources http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.offcampus.lib.washington.edu/
