LO Definition Learning objects (LOs) consist of digitally reusable succinct portions of self-contained information. These units of information can be combined into larger modules of information like building blocks to meet an individual’s needs in a variety of learning contexts.

Benefits Introduce content Gauge prior knowledge and reinforce understanding Assess learning through application of skills Save time Personalize curriculum

Potluck Activity On handout: Identify learning tasks typically covered in one-shot sessions

Potluck Activity In a group: Select educational task you have in common – identify potential LO

Potluck Activity Development Process Worksheet

Share What will your group’s LO do? How could the LO be represented visually? What are the educational objectives (purpose, audience, learning outcomes)? What activities will be performed by the learner? What resources are needed? How will the learning outcomes be assessed?
