Market Research Analyst  Market research analysts study our habits as consumers and use those observations to counsel companies on how to package, brand and sell products. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an impressive 31.6 percent employment increase for this occupation between 2014 and 2022.

Operations Research Analyst  Like a market research analyst, the No. 2 Business Job is also an advisory position – one that involves helping businesses and organizations operate more efficiently. The BLS projects employment growth of nearly 27 percent for operations research analysts by the year 2022.

Accountants  Were you the kid who always made straight A’s in math? A career full of audits, taxes and accounts receivable might await you. The Labor Department predicts more than 166,000 new openings will be created in this field from now to 2022.

Business Manager  Whether you think of your business operations manager as the GM, the big cheese or the boss lady, he or she is charged with making tactical and strategic decisions necessary to run a department. The best have top-notch communication skills, a knack for time management and the ability to make critical decisions smartly and quickly.

Marketing Manager  Sending the right message about a product can take the item from a shelf- warmer to a must-have sensation rapidly. That’s what effective marketing managers do – highlight what’s fresh and relevant about a commodity to entice consumers. Our No. 5 Business Job ranks so well in part due to its high median salary: $119,480 in 2012.

People who get advice from accountants and who use their work include investors, creditors, company owners and managers, as well as the government.

Accountant’s Paths  Accounting majors have a wide range of job options open to them. Many go into public accounting - where accounting firms provide independent auditing, tax accounting, and consulting services to businesses and other clients. This is the traditional path for becoming a CPA - Certified Public Accountant.  Others choose positions in specific companies - becoming managerial, tax, or financial accountants or internal auditors. Still others enter the specialized field of not-for-profit accounting.

Finance  Finance has evolved into an analytical discipline dealing with the acquisition and disbursement of funds.

Finance Paths  The Finance major prepares students for careers as bankers, stockbrokers, financial analysts, portfolio managers, financial consultants, investment bankers, and personal financial planners. It also prepares them for graduate study in business or law.

Graduates have capabilities in systems analysis and design, database management, and IT project management.

CIS Paths  Students completing the BBA in CIS may choose to pursue careers in the design, implementation, and management of IT projects.  Example job titles include application developer, application support, business analyst, business intelligence manager, client services analyst, database administrator, database analyst, information resource manager, IT consultant, programmer/analyst, project manager, quality assurance analyst, systems analyst, user support analyst, web developer, web page designer, and webmaster.
