Civil war between Chinese Communist Party and the Nationalist Party (Kuomintang) for control of China China falls under communism in 1949 Mao Zedong defeats Jiang Jieshi to create PRC One party state was created led by Mao Reforms (medical, political and social improvements, new schools, etc.)

The US does not want to “lose” China to communism US sends military and financial aid to the nationalists but it is not enough In Oct of 1949, Zedong officially proclaimed the formation of the PRC (People’s Republic of China), which means the US “lost” China

Continued The PRC and the US could not agree due to domestic politics and global tensions Truman creates the “China White Paper” which stated a US policy towards China saying that only Chinese forces could determine the outcome of the civil war but this failed due to “losing” China
