1992-1993 pilot CD for the UNESCO programme Nenory of the World starting digitization in the National library of the Czech Republic and in the Czechlands as well books represented by a selection of one or more images and by brief descriptive metadata records

1995-1998 INSTITUTIONAL LEVEL 1995 – two CDs as first attempts to create virtual book since 1996 systemic digitization 1997-1998 – DOBM – elementary standard for creating compound digital document 1999 – DOBM became UNESCO recommendation

1999-2002 NATIONAL LEVEL 1999-2001 – MASTER – standard for electronic manuscript descriptive records 2000 – Czech national digitization programme Memoriae mundi series Bohemica 2001-2002 – implementtion of MASTER in the ctaloguing workflow in the Ntional Library of the Czech Republic 2002 – MASTER+ - extension for compound digitl document 2002 – dissemination to the Central Europe (especially Slovakia)

2003-2006 CENTRAL EUROPEAN LEVEL 2002-2003 – MASTER based open catalogue of historical collections 2003-2004 – MASTER+ based Manuscriptorium digital library 2004-2005 – conversion of all already done compound digital documents into Manuscriptorium 2006 – accessibility in Manuscriptorium as obligatory output of the Memoriae mundi series Bohemica programme

2007-2009 EUROPEAN LEVEL 2007-2009 – ENRICH project TEI P5 ENRICH Specification – standard for both descriptive amd structural metadata substantial enriching (five times) of the Manuscriptorium content

FUTURE... integration in European medievalist network (CENDARI project) Manuscriptorium research & development: graphemic variants, ontologies, thesauri, utomtic creation of metadata concerning content of images, medievl music trnscriptions, etc. interntional collaboration: HTR (handwritten text recognition)
