GrowthDepthStrength Spirit, soul, body BODY SOUL Physical attributes Senses - touch - sight - smell - sound - taste Mind Will Emotions SPIRIT

GrowthDepthStrength 3 Questions  What does being pure in heart mean?  What does it mean to see God?  If I know what they mean, what am I doing about it and am I living it?

GrowthDepthStrength Pure in heart Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Psalm 24:3 (NIVUK) He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false Psalm 24:4 (NIVUK)

GrowthDepthStrength 4 Elements  Clean hands  Pure heart  Those who don’t worship idols  Those who don’t lie (KJV – acts deceitfully)

GrowthDepthStrength Pure in heart Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded James 4:8 (NIVUK)  Clean (washed) hands  Purifying of hearts  Acting deceitfully (double-minded)

GrowthDepthStrength What Jesus said “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” Matthew 22:37 (NIVUK)

GrowthDepthStrength Where’s our heart? Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name Psalm 86:11 (NIVUK) I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh Ezekiel 11:19 (NIVUK)

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse Romans 1:20 (TNIV)

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no-one has seen or can see 1Timothy 6:15b-16 (NIVUK) No-one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us 1John 4:12 (NIVUK)

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God  We get to meet Him  We get to know Him  We get to become more like Him

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father John 6:46 (NIVUK) Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father John 14:9 (NIVUK) No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son – the One who is at the Father's side – He has revealed Him John 1:18 (HCSB)

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these John 5:19-20 (NIVUK)

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image 2Corinthians 3:16-18 (NLT)

GrowthDepthStrength Seeing God The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ 2Corinthians 4:4-6 (TNIV)

GrowthDepthStrength The Challenge The LORD does not look at the things human beings look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart 1 Samuel 16:7 (TNIV)

GrowthDepthStrength The Challenge The things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these defile you. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander Matthew 15:18-19 (TNIV)

GrowthDepthStrength The Challenge Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart 2Timothy 2:22 (NIVUK)

GrowthDepthStrength The Challenge  Where is my heart?  Where is my focus?  With whom am I associating?
