Why Would God Love Me? John 13:1

[4] what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Psalm 8:4 ESV) Who does not fight with… Self-doubt Fears Failures Questions Sins and sorrows?

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. (John 13:1 ESV) Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. (John 11:5 ESV) And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21 ESV) It is Evident that Jesus Loves Some People

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. (Psalm 139:13 ESV) Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The LORD called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. (Isaiah 49:1 ESV) Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, [5] “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:4-5 ESV) 1. He loves me because He made me

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10 ESV) We can ALL be His workmanship, with God’s fingerprints all over us

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. [3] For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, (Romans 8:1-3 ESV) 1. He loves me because He made me 2. …because of MY need

Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. (Isaiah 1:5 ESV) Sin makes us head sick and heart faint, and we ALL sin. Romans 3:23

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1 ESV) In Christ Jesus, no condemnation!

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Hebrews 8:10 ESV) 1. He loves me because He made me 2. …because of MY need 3. …because of what He can do with me I am a page for Him to write upon

But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” [21] Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? (Romans 9:20-21 ESV) I am clay He can mold for His purpose

“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. …[35] Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. (Luke 11:33-35 ESV) I am a life to reflect His light

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. [21] Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. (2 Timothy 2:20-21 ESV) I am a vessel He can use for His work

…God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ESV) I am an intern for God’s model

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20 ESV) What can He do with a page, some clay, a life, a vessel, or a willing intern?

…who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, (2 Timothy 1:9 ESV) 1. He loves me because He made me 2. …because of MY need 3. …because of what He can do with me 4. …because of HIS purpose

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. (Psalm 138:8 ESV) David perceived that even as a sinner, God could fulfill His purpose in a man

This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, (Ephesians 3:11 ESV) God’s purpose is Christ in us.

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. (Acts 20:28 ESV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, (Ephesians 1:3 ESV)

Why would God love me? Because He made me Because of my need Because of what He can do with me Because of His purpose

…what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? [5] Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. [6] You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, [7] all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, [8] the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. [9] O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8:4-9 ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV) But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, [13] who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13 ESV)
