The Club Based Model INCH PARK COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB Multi Sport Club – Based around the core Clubs of – Lismore RFC, Edinburgh South Football (youth), Edinburgh South Cricket A not for profit company, limited by guarantee and a registered charity. A Social Enterprise company. Sustainable both financially and in participation. Taken long ground lease on Inch Park, raised funding and currently nearing completion of £1.6 million facility, utilising self build and club skills to add value and reduce overall cost. Whole development of project operated on open book basis with Sport Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council. Project groundwork commenced in 1993. Creating a multi sport, multi use facility, at the centre of the South Edinburgh Community. Designed to facilitate use by the Community and other sports.

11. The Club Based Model INCH PARK COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB However the construction of the building and pitches is only the first step. Whilst developing our core clubs is basic to our plan, IPCSC was conceived to go well beyond this base level. Outreach into South Edinburgh Community – Provides a base, from where club development officers, coaches and trained volunteers, will go out and work pro actively to deliver in the Community. Encouraging all into exercise and sport, and a more active lifestyle. All within an organised structure, overseen by our Club Development Manager. Facilitate We will work with local organisations, schools, other clubs, and agencies to encourage and facilitate joint development, and with it bring social and health benefits to the Community. Coach Development - Will provide voluntary coaches to work with Active Schools and provide opportunity for Young Leaders in schools to become coaching volunteers within a club network. A Community Sporting Base - Will provide a base for other sporting and Community groups.

The Club Based Model INCH PARK COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB Indoor Activity, we will work with other groups in the Community to host individual or group exercise, - dance, yoga, aerobic exercise, etc., the space also being available to local schools who may not have facilities in house. Homework and after school clubs, will form a key element of this work. Providing a social environment for all members and the community partners. Outcomes The whole process will be measured and compared against targeted outcomes. Success will be a thriving active community, with people of all ages involved in a wide range of activities, indoor and out, facilitated / centred on Inch Park. An Annual Report will be published.

Create a home for strong sports clubs/organisations that have/prepared to show a real long term allegiance to the local school(s) and the area Create a Community Sports Association Provide leadership opportunities for senior pupils and college students Develop a ‘through school’ approach to Physical Education to assist the whole pathway

16. The Area Based Model Based around Meggetland but would include clubs, schools and organisations in the Colinton Road corridor. Plan is to engage all clubs, sporting organisations, schools and community organisations  Increase participation within the Hub’s area  Create an environment where the local community could directly influence the sports activity that takes place in and around the Meggetland Hub.  Create and actively promote a culture of active and lifelong participation for the long term benefits of the community  Develop a self-sustaining sports co-operative that actively influences all aspects of physical activity provision within the area  Create a self-governing Hub which delivers the visions of a Community Sports Hub model as outlined by sportscotland, whilst working in partnership with key partners such as the facility operators and owners Edinburgh Leisure will initiate the project but ultimately the group itself will become self sustaining and continue to deliver it’s objectives
