3  A Unique ID is required for both Student and Staff in order to load information into the Operational Data Store (ODS).  SSN or S-Number could not be used because those numbers can change for an individual person.  PID could not be used because that is a confidential number used internally by TEA.  Local ID Numbers could not be used because those numbers change for an individual person. slide3

4  The District will send a file to TEA of all active and withdrawn students for this school year at the time of enrollment.  The Student and Staff State Unique-ID will be linked to the PID database. slide4

5  The District will upload a student and a staff file of all active and withdrawn students for this school year.  The file(s) will include all students/staff from the LEA source systems that were active/withdrawn in the 2012-2013 school year.  The file will be processed in the TSDS Unique ID System. slide5

9 Objective: Assign a unique identifier to every student and staff member in Texas Public and Charter Schools, which is a necessary step to enable the successful implementation of the Texas Student Data System (TSDS). Rollout Plan: January 22,2013 - Unique ID database created by TEA (based from TEA PID database) January 23,2013 - PID & PET Update will be offline for LEAs January 23,2013 - Unique IDs made available to LEAs February 1, 2013 - LEAs have Unique IDs populated in their source system February 4,2013- Unique ID product in production statewide February 4,2013 - PID & PET back on-line April 2013 - Student & Staff Unique ID submitted in PEIMS Submission 3 & 4 August, 2013 - Student & Staff Unique ID submitted for TSDS
