3 About Me  I have graduated from college 3 times:  University of Utah 1987 Child and Family Development  Salt Lake Community College 2002 ASL Interpreting  2009 Western Governors University Post Baccalaureate K-8 Teacher Certification.  This is my 4th year teaching 3rd grade. I previously taught 4 th for two years and 5 th for one year.  I have 5 kids my oldest is 29 my youngest is 18. I am a grandma to Isaak, Gabriel, Mack and Rory.  I enjoy reading, being with my family, biking, and SCHOOL! Learning new things is one of my favorite things.

4 My Teaching Philosophy  Students have the right to an environment that is safe, nurturing, and which provides them with the best possible chance for success.  Students have the right to curriculum that is tailored to their needs and interests.  I have the responsibility to determine the needs of students and provide appropriate instruction.  Students have the responsibility to work hard, do their best, behave appropriately, and never give up.  All members of our classroom community have the responsibility to work together to establish and maintain an environment that promotes academic, social and emotional growth  Parents are encouraged to become active participants in the classroom community through volunteering, encouraging their student to do his/her best, and communicating with me through email, telephone or other means.

9  Weekly Homework Packet  Basic Math Fact Practice  Reading Fluency  Homework Tracker/Initialed by parent or guardian.  20 Minutes of Reading Each Night  Reading Reflection.

10 Please Bring: Please Leave Home: 2 composition notebooks for writing and science journals. Colored pocket dividers for 3 ring binder. 1” 3 ring binder The school will provide all other school supplies such as pencils (colored and regular), markers, erasers, scissors, etc. Donations of glue sticks, extra pencils, cap erasers, would also be very much appreciated Gum Candy toys electronic equipment such as handheld games or music players, laser pointers. pocket knives, or weapons of any kind. School policy states that cell phones must be kept in backpacks during school hours. What to Bring/What to Leave Home

11 Volunteer Opportunities Parents are encouraged to become active participants in the classroom community through volunteering, encouraging their student to do his/her best, and communicating with me through email, telephone or other means.
