13 Vision Mission & Vision Update Current Agency Vision Statement: “The Oregon State Marine Board serves Oregon boaters by carefully using boater fees to create quality boating access, marine law enforcement and safety and environmental education. We strive to provide excellent customer service, to leverage facility funds, to partner broadly and to provide economic benefits in urban and rural communities statewide. We will work hard to maintain our position as a national leader in recreational boating”. Advisory Drafted Vision Statement: “A collaborative community providing opportunities for all boaters* to safely and respectfully experience Oregon’s waterways.” *Advisory debate between term “boater” and “waterway user”.

14 Name & Logo Mission & Vision Update Advisors recommend proceeding with both logo and name change. Logo and name both fit the proposed mission and vision however an updated logo and name are thought to be more inclusive to all recreational boaters. Advisors recommend not forgetting the past of a successful agency when considering new name and logo but bridging the perceived gap between user groups. Recommend proceeding forward with exploring name and logo change. Perform due diligence for cost, risks, unintended consequences.
