The Sociological Theory of Deviance that best describes Richard Ramirez is differential-association theory. This theory says that criminal behavior is learned in interactions with others. This teaches the criminal techniques, motives, drives and attitudes. This person being influenced is likely to inherit the values of the people who are influencing them. This can especially be seen with Richard Ramirez. Ramirez spent most of his time with his older cousin who was mentally disturbed himself. He introduced Ramirez to Satanic worship and other drugs that Ramirez started to value himself. His cousin also showed him about the disturbing things he did to women and almost bragged about it teaching Ramirez that that was the way to behave. Richard was exposed to murder through his cousin at a young age also when his cousin murdered his wide right in front of Ramirez. Ramirez grew up being showed that this is what was to value; if he wasn’t exposed to this at a young age he might never have chosen the path that he did.;
