Eye sore a mouse! Wear? Their on the stare! Were on the stare? Write They’re I saw a mouse! Where? There on the stair! Where on the stair? Right There HOMOPHONE: a word, or words, that sound the same as another word but have different spellings and meanings.

Understanding Homophones -They change the meaning of your text. e.g. I know where I am going. I no where I am going. -You will loose precision and marks in essays and exams

Common Homophones where/wear/were there/their/they’re whole/hole know/no threw/through knew/new If you mean the place the word has ‘HERE’ in it e.g. ” Where are you going?” “ Over there to look at the penguins.”

Tips To Help 1.Proof-read work carefully. 2.Identify your most common homophone errors – learn them – check for them. 3.Take time to really think about which word you really want to write. 4.Practise.
