How to Calculate Patient Meal Percentage Intake Water, tea, coffee, and condiments (ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise) do not count Butter counts with the bread All other food items are given 1 point All or ¾ of a particular food item=1 point If the patient eats ½ of a food item=½ point If the patient eats ≤¼ of a food item=0 points Count the points eaten Divide by the total items on the tray After viewing entire presentation, click here to begin quiz.here

Adding Up the Points Total Items on Tray 1 2 3 4 5 Tip: Use the Tray Ticket to count how many items were served. Example: 5 items on tray (two potato wedges=1 serving)

Doing the Math Of the 5 items on the tray: ¾ of potato wedges=1 All of chicken=1 All of banana=1 ½ broccoli ½ milk Do the math 1+1+1+½+½=4 4 / 5 =80%
