Customary Units of Measure The inch, foot, yard, mile are the basic units of measuring length in the “customary” scale The basic units of mass or weight in the customary system are the ounce (oz), pound (lb), and ton. The basic units of capacity in the customary system are the pint, quart, and gallon.
