Why are Insurance Companies Requiring Lead Safe Certificates NEW YORK, New York, October 19, 2007 - A team of lead paint lawyers at Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP, obtained a verdict totaling $4,645,000.00 in a lead poisoning lawsuit 1 on behalf of a child, who was 15 years old at the time of trial and 4 years old when he was poisoned from his apartment building's lead paint. The lawyers substantiated the lead poisoning lawsuit by showing that for a period of approximately one year, while residing in a Manhattan apartment building, the child was exposed to peeling and chipping lead based paint and lead based paint dust. The lead paint lawyers then went on to argue the apartment owner and manager's liability for the child’s lead poisoning. http://www.lpklaw.com/new-york-lead-paint-lawyers.php Lawyers are pursuing these lawsuits more and more

Why are Insurance Companies Requiring Lead Safe Certificates Protecting children from exposure to lead is important to lifelong good health. Even low levels of lead in blood have been shown to affect IQ, ability to pay attention, and academic achievement. And effects of lead exposure cannot be corrected. What is a Lead Safe Home A “Lead Safe Building” is one free of Lead Hazards, Including: 1. Defective Lead Paint (chipping, pealing, cracking, blistering, friction etc…) 2. Lead Dust (This is the source of most lead poisonings in the household) 3. Lead in Soil (From deteriorated exterior paint, leaded gas, etc…) 4. Lead in Water (From Lead pipes and Solder) There are many other lead hazards that maybe invited into a home, but these cover the building itself
