Welcome to Beta Alpha Psi Alpha Pi Chapter The University of Iowa

Program of Activities All meetings are on Tuesdays, beginning at 5:30, in S401 PBB. Please sign in at the beginning of each meeting. All meetings are followed by a pizza/soda reception in the Andersen Galleria (near Pat’s Diner). There are generally three meetings per month during the fall semester and two meetings per month during the spring semester.

Pledge Requirements Accounting majors, without an accounting G.P.A., must have a 3.25 cumulative G.P.A. in order to pledge. Students with an accounting G.P.A. must have a 3.0 cumulative and accounting G.P.A. to pledge. Pledges must actively participate in BAP events. Pledges who miss more than one meeting per semester will be removed from the Pledge List. Pledges who are off-campus on internships, etc., are excused from participation.

Professional Hours (25 hours required per academic year) Tuesday Meetings Mock Interviews VITA Training Meet the Firms Night Field Trips National and Regional Meetings All required hours are reduced in half for students who are on campus for only one semester.

Service Activities ( 15 hours required per academic year) Tutoring for 6A:1 VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Bingo with the elderly Ronald McDonald House “No-shows” lose 1 hour for each session missed. Members who are more than ten minutes late for a session earn no hours for the session.

Incentives for All Pledges/Members The pledge/member who has the most total cumulative hours each semester wins a 50% discount coupon to a CPA Review Course (value $900.) The pledge/member who has the second highest hours each semester wins $100. The pledge/member who has the third highest hours each semester wins $50.

Initiation Requirements Pledges must have successfully completed at least two upper-level accounting courses. Pledges must have a 3.0 accounting and a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Pledges must have met the chapter’s participation requirements. All initiates, who are not officers, must pay a $100 deposit prior to being initiated. Initiated members in good standing receive a refund of the $100 deposit just prior to graduation.

Dues $85 per pledge is payable by February 10, 2006, along with a completed Application Form. (This is a one-time fee.) Prior to initiation, new members must pay a refundable deposit of $100. Initiated members in good standing may request the $100 refund at the end of their last semester.

Officers Perks Officers are eligible to win a separate discount on the CPA review course Officers are eligible to win BAP scholarship(s) for Superior Chapter status Officers are eligible to participate in Regional and National activities
