2. My social issue is the Pledge of Allegiance. Some people think we should take the Pledge of Allegiance out of school. The debate is that the pledge includes the words “under god.”I will show you the results at the end of the presentation.

3. The point is One Nation Under God. Public schools are government institutions and therefore any attempt at inserting either specific or general references to religion is a violation of the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Americans are free to practice the religion of their choice, but are Constitution requires a clear separation between religion & government.

4. Any noted controversy regarding public school students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is without merit. Congress added the words "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance in the 1950s at the height of the Cold War, as an anti-communist statement. It show patriotism.
