Your role as Keyworker: How to promote the CFC Keyworkers are the gatekeepers of the CFC; your efforts can make or break your workplace campaign Motivated keyworkers = motivated donors! Special events generate interest and excitement about contributing Keep the campaign visible by promoting the cause throughout your office Watch the Training Video herehere I the CFC! 20
21
Advertise the campaign Brand the CFC as a positive, exciting opportunity for your coworkers Email Send inter-office messages with campaign reminders Articles Publish articles in employee newsletters Posters Hang and distribute CFC posters in heavy traffic areas Break Room Advertising Post information and charity brochures in break rooms Target the Market Publicize specific charities your co-workers have a vested interest in Give Treats Give out chocolate kisses or wrapped cookies with CFC messages Use Humor Post funny pictures or memes with CFC related captions Ask for help The CFC staff is here to help with ideas, suggestion, and support! 21
22
Host a CFC meeting Schedule an employee meeting to distribute materials and rally your coworkers Make it convenient – schedule at a time when everyone is available, or piggyback onto a regularly scheduled staff/safety meeting Invite speakers – Loaned Associates are trained to speak about the CFC, and can bring representatives from local charities to present Make it Personal – share personal accounts of your experiences with charity services or highlight a cause that your coworkers relate to Leverage Leadership Support – your agency heads know about the CFC and will support you in your endeavor Provide Refreshments or Prizes – the CFC staff can provide prizes to give away to those who complete pledge forms 22
23
Ask your coworkers to give Our goal is 100% contact, so reach out to every coworker Hand out pledge forms and make materials easily accessible Speak face-to-face and don’t forget to follow up Encourage payroll deduction Remember that contributing is strictly voluntary; no coercion BUT…if you don’t ask, they can’t say yes! Will you give to the CFC? Yes, I’d love to! 23
24
How to effectively fundraise Special events are fun and a great way to raise awareness about CFC CFC regulations 1 state “special events,” such as auctions, bake sales, carnivals, athletic and other types of events are permitted if approved by the appropriate Agency Head, consistent with agency ethics regulations. In all special events, “the donor must have the option of designating to a specific participating organization or federation or be advised that the donation will be counted as an undesignated contribution…” Check with your agency head for permission and support Get creative with your fundraising ideas, use friendly competition CFC staff can offer suggestions and assistance 1 (5 CFR Part 950.602[b]) 24
25
Fundraising Ideas Coin Wars – Agency branches, units, or departments compete against each other with change jars. Each penny equals a point, everything else equals its value in negative points. The department with the most positive points wins a prize. Dress Down for CFC – many agencies allow “casual Friday” during campaign for those who pledge Office Olympics – set up challenges in the workplace; pay an entry fee that will go towards a group donation and the winner gets a CFC prize Bake Sale– have a few coworkers assist with baking, then sell the goods! Breakfast incentive – offer a workplace meal if your agency reaches goal Prizes – work with your agency head to offer an incentive prize for those who complete a pledge form 25
26
