Le passé composé/ the perfect tense 1.The perfect tense (le passé composé ) is used to talk about the past: to say what you have done at a certain time in the past. j’ai regardé I watched / I have watched 2.The perfect tense is « composed » of 3 parts The subject The auxiliary AVOIR (for most verbs) or ETRE (present tense) The past participle j’ai regardé / (je suis allé(e)) Just as in English

Negatives To say that you did not do something in the past, you need to use ne…pas. They make an ‘avoir’ sandwich. The ‘ne’ goes in front of the part of ‘avoir’ that you are using. The ‘pas’ goes after the part of ‘avoir’ that you are using.

Write a paragraph, in French, about what you did and didn’t do last weekend (with your family and friends) Write at least 10 sentences, in the past tense. 2 sentences about what you did, last week end (alone) using « I ». 2 sentencse describing what a masculine person did last weekend, using « he » 2 sentences describing what a feminine person did last week- end, using « she » 1 sentence describing what you and your friends did last weekend, using « we » 1 sentence describing what your family did last weekend (without you), using « they » 2 sentences using the negative form. Use exercise 4 pg.25 for help if you want to. Use linking words such as : le week end dernier, le matin, le soir, l’après-midi, ensuite, mais, après, puis, enfin…. Ecrire
