2 2010 & 2011 FY State Budgets 2010 resolved primarily due to a shift in school aid funding after federal money was passed down. No cuts to revenue sharing for FY 2010! 2011 as of right now, the agreement is to resolve budget with combination of things including state department cuts, a tax amnesty program, a state retirement program and other fiscal changes. No cuts to revenue sharing for FY 2011 BUT – Census figures may cause big problems in mid-2011

3 FY 2011 Transportation Budget State facing $84m match shortfall - $475m of federal funding at risk Announced budget deal fills current year shortfall without addressing ongoing revenue decline Be prepared for more of the same next year

4 Sewer Infrastructure & Brownfield Money Legislative package moving which would provide brownfield process reforms Reforms are being tied to providing DNRE with funding for certain contaminated sites League working to secure funding assistance for communities on sewer and brownfield projects as part of the negotiations

5 2 inch rule fix introduced Earlier this year the Michigan Supreme Court reversed the “2 inch rule” for sidewalk defects in Robinson v. City of Lansing Very costly ruling for our communities. It will greatly increase municipal liability. League working for a legislative fix of the Robinson case Sen. Kuipers introduced SB 1475 and Rep. Barnett introduced HB ____ to reinstate the 2 inch rule
