Ar verb endings… Conjugate a verb to incorporate who or what is doing that verb. That is why we say “I am, you are, he is, she is, we are, they are” We are incorporating who or what is doing that verb. In English, it is two words I have, you have But, in Spanish they use only one word Tengo, tienes, etc.

What is two things you notice? 1. They are all in the infinitive form. 2. They all end in –ar.

Let’s Conjugate! -ar verb endings Yo – o Nosotros(as) – amos Tú – as Él, Ella, Ud. – a Ellos, Ellas, Uds. – an First, you need to know the endings.

The Steps… Take your verb. Hablar Drop the –ar ending. Hablar This leaves you with the stem. Habl Figure out who you want to talk about. Yo Add the appropriate ending. Yo habl o

Yo form When you want to talk about yourself, you use the yo form of the verb. Cant ar (To sing) Cant (take off the –ar ending) Cant o (add – o ) Yo canto (I sing)

Llev ar Llev Llev o Yo llevo. (I wear./I carry.) Yo form.

Tú Form. Why you want to talk to your friend about him or her you use the tú form. (You) Take your verb. Comprar Drop the –ar ending. Comprar You’re left with the stem. Compr Who do you want to talk to? Tú Add the –as. Tú compras.
