3. Captain Corelli’s Mandolin The book is situated in the World War II on a small island called Cephalonia. There lives doctor Iannis and his daughter Pelagia. When the conflict between Greece and Italy started Pelagia got engaged with Mandras. Mandras went to the Greek forces to defend their land. Pelegia was writing letters to him, but he didn’t respond. She thought that their love was dead, but he couldn’t write to her because of his illiteracy. Greece was defeated by Germans and Italians. Italians occupied Greece and Cephalonia too. Officer Correli was put up in the house of doctor Iannis and there Pelegia fell in love with Correli. But when Allies in 1943 conquered Italy, Italian forces thought that war was over and they could come back home. But they were wrong. Germans killed every Italian soldier, who tried to fight against them. Corelli and his troops were executed, but a friend of Corelli made him a shield with his own body. Mandras was looking for survivors and he found injured Corelli. He took him to Pelagias house and there they saved him. But he had to leave the house because of Germans, who were killing people who had got Germans enemies in their houses. After war he came back to Italy and started to play in orchestra. Pelegia started to study medicine. But in Greece there was a big earthquake which destroyed Pelegias house. When the book came to end there was a celebration of St. Gerasim and on that celebration Correli came back to Cephalonia and started to fall in love with Pelagia again.

4. My opinions +The book was really interesting, because I like stories from war and love stories too. It seems to me that this story really happened. The writer is a big artist. - I felt that the plot was sometimes twisted and that annoyed me.
