Appropriate and Effective Accommodations Based on Language Proficiency Native language accommodations are most effective for students at beginning or emerging levels of English proficiency. Just a reminder… We must not assess what we do not teach! An accommodation with which a student has had no experience is not an accommodation, but rather a hindrance!
