4 More students Historic Headcount Credit AY 1994 to AY 2010 Last four years: Headcount +41,000 FTEs +26,000

5 More students The average VCCS graduate needs four years to complete an associate’s. More than 30% need five or more years.

6 More students Nearly one million Virginians 18 years or older have some college experience but have not earned a credential.

7 More underprepared students Over the last five years, nearly 50% of all recent high school graduates required developmental education.

8 More underprepared students 25% The percentage of VCCS developmental education students who graduate or transfer in four years.

9 The call for more college graduates Five million additional American college graduates over the next decade. 100,000 additional Virginia college graduates over the next 15 years.

11 Guiding Principles: Driving Re-engineering Reinvent ourselves: – Significantly greater outcomes – Reduce costs Focus on what we’re going to do for Virginia Resources are already in our budgets (live with what you’ve got) Sustainable & Scalable

12 A Student-First Focus Reengineering Taskforce created in Fall 2009. Recommendations accepted by the State Board in November 2010. Chancellor held 20+ Town Hall Meetings. Reengineering Taskforce II now implementing the ideas over the next months and years.
