1 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah
Alhamdulillah, nahmaduhu wa nasta’eenuhu was nastaghfir Wa nauthu billahi min shururi anfusinaa wa min sayyiaati a’maalina May yahdillahu fa laa mudhilla lah Was may yudhlil fa laa haadiya lah Wa nashhadu allah ilaha illallah wahdahu laa shareeka lah wa nashhadu anna muhammadan abduhu wa rasulullah All praise and thanks is due to Allah. We praise Allah, we seek assistance and forgiveness from Allah. And we seek refuge in Allah from our lower selves and from the wrongs we commit. Whoever Allah guides no one can misguide, and whoever Allah leaves astray, no one can guide. And we bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but God, the One who is unique and has no partners. And we bear witness that Muhammad is Allah’s servant and messenger.

2 The Inner Circle Allah (T) says in the Quran:
Friday Khutbah Allah (T) says in the Quran: كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ “Everything in it will seize to exist” وَيَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلالِ وَالإكْرَامِ “and what will remain is your Lord’s countenance the One with the magnificence and the glory”

3 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Very seldom, during the course of our daily lives, as we go about our business and pleasures, do we consider death, yet it is inescapable. It’s the reality of life. It’s part of life. This verse not only reminds us of death, but it also reminds us of the reality that everything has a beginning and end point. We are also reminded that if there is anything that we attribute magnificence and glory to, it will perish and the One to whom magnificence and glory is due, will be the only One to remain.

4 Who knows what happens from that point. We can only speculate.
The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Very seldom do we reflect upon death, until it comes close to us, at the death of our loved ones and as we stand by their grave sides lowering them down into their graves. Who knows what happens from that point. We can only speculate.

5 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah But the Quran gives us numerous examples of life and death, creation and recreation.

6 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah 2:259 Or (take) the similitude of one who passed by a hamlet, all in ruins to its roofs. He said: "Oh! how shall Allah bring it (ever) to life, after its death?" but Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long was I in this state?" He said: (Perhaps) a day or part of a day." It was said: “No, you were in this state a hundred years; but look at your food and your drink; they show no signs of age; and look at your donkey: And thus, so that We may make of you a sign unto the people, Look further at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh." When this was shown clearly to him, he said: "I know now that Allah has power over all things."

7 The Inner Circle Was this a true experience, was it metaphorical?
Friday Khutbah Was this a true experience, was it metaphorical? Is it possible for Allah to do this? He did it before, when we were nothing and now we think we are something. Has Allah not repeatedly created something out of nothing. Tafakkaru fi khalkilahi wa laa tafakkaru fillah We do not have to contemplate Allah’s existence or non-existence, we but only have to contemplate to the very core and essence of His creation, and perhaps our faith in Allah will be restored or increased. 2:260 Behold! Abraham said: "My Lord! Show me how how you give life to the dead." He said: “Do you not then believe?" He said: "Yea! but to satisfy My own undertaking." He said: "Take four birds; Tame them to turn to you; put a portion of them on every hill and call to them: They will come to you with speed. Then know that Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise."

8 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah By this parable Allah is saying that we issue from Him, and then we are scattered, and then He calls us back to life by a single command.

9 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Everything, which is created has two points on the scale of existence: a starting point and an end point. Everything, which has a beginning in time has an ending in time, whether it is man, animal, heavenly bodies, sun, moon planets or stars. The cosmologists say that the universe began with a Big Bang, when a compact ball of energy exploded. With it began the time and the contours of space which are continuously expanding and in which the galaxies, the stars and the satellites are taking shape. The stars are then sinking into Black Hole, in a reversal of the Big Bang process. Thus it seems the universe will come to an end as it is sucked into a Black Hole.

10 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Everything, which is created has a linear dimension on the time scale, with a beginning point and an end point. There is also a lateral dimension, which determines the field of existence — the capacity field. This is the enclosure in which every species’ capacities are confined. This also holds for the cosmos. The satellites and stars confined to their orbits. Every animal has a size limit, which is written into its DNA. A cat cannot grow into a tiger. Men cannot grow to be sixteen feet tall. Our perceptions have their ranges. Man’s vision has a range. He cannot see beyond violet at one end and red at the other, whereas some animals can see what man cannot see and hear what man cannot hear.

11 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Likewise, our intellect has a range too. Human brain is getting bigger as the brain cells increase. We may not have reached the maximum range of our intellect yet, as more discoveries are awaiting us. Our space travel has not reached its farthest point, as our destinations are yonder still but the limit is imminent.

12 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah What is imperceptible to our eyes and ears and undetectable by our scientific instruments, the Hubble telescope and what is inconceivable by the regions of our brain fall in a realm, which, in the Qur’anic language is called Ilm- al-ghaib(knowledge of the unseen) Belief in the unseen is a fundamental tenet of Islam. The Qur’an declares in the very beginning: “This is the book in which there is no doubt, a guide for the God-fearing, those who believe in the unseen, establish prayer and spend of what we have provided them with.” ِ

13 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Ghaib means something that cannot be perceived by man howsoever he tries, for instance, the reality of God and the times and places of death. This also means that one must reject the notion that what cannot be seen does not exist. This is the contention of the naturalists, which our faith categorically rejects. Humans live in a very small world of their perception and knowledge. There is an infinite amount of reality beyond the scope of our knowledge.

14 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Apart from perception, imagination and speculation, there is another property of our brain, which is called rationalization. Rationalization is essential for our survival. We rationalize on a daily basis, using our six senses, but do we get satisfactory answers? Not all the time, because the moment we think our rationalization is rational, someone else comes with another theory, because we have not accounted for the concept of GHYB, the unseen, that which cannot be rationalized but does interface with whatever is happening on this plane that can only be observed through six senses. Can we therefore make concluding remarks such as, there is no God, there is no life after death, there are no jin, there are no angels?

15 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Human life is the coming together of some elements in a unique order and harmony and the death is the reversal of that process. Life is order and death is disorder. Our bodies are composed of water, some elements like calcium, magnesium and phosphorous supplied by earth; carbon, supplied by carbon dioxide, a component of air, all compounded into biological matter as energy from the sun (fire) is added. So, they were not far off who said that we were made of water, dust, air and fire. When we die, our bodies disintegrate and revert back to these basic elements, dust to dust, water to water and air to air!

16 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah “It is He, who brings out the living from the dead and brings out the dead from the living and who gives life to the earth after it is dead and thus shall you be brought out.” And also: مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ ٰ “From the earth did we create you and into it shall we return you. And from it shall we bring you out once again.”

17 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Sit between khutbah

18 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah Mechanical mixing of elements does not create life. What makes life happen is another mysterious element, which we call Rooh (spirit) but is the Rooh a common element like air and dust? The answer is no, because water can go back to water, air can mix with air and dust can return to dust but Rooh is something that cannot merge with matter. It had made a human individual different from any other matter that had ever existed but we do not know the nature of the Ruh. The knowledge of it belongs in the realm of Ghaib.

19 The Inner Circle The Qur’an says;
Friday Khutbah The Qur’an says; “And they ask you about spirit. Say: The spirit is in the realm of my Lord. Of the knowledge, only a little is communicated to you.”

20 The Inner Circle Friday Khutbah As human beings we will continue to speculate about life and death. And because we have not been given the full knowledge of the unseen, we cannot possibly make concluding statements about life and death, but it is for us as Believers to reflect upon the many similitudes in the Quran that will create an understanding that whatever is possible in this plane by simply mixing material and matter, in even more possible with an added element of Ghaib to our equation. Do we have to fear this unseen, I don’t think so, but we should be conscious of our Creator’s might and mercy and that as long as we are good within our selves and have an understanding that we are one and hence have to be good to one another, we would have already achieved shelter under his mercy.

Allahummansur man nasra deena Muhammad; Allahummansuril mujahideena fee qulli makaan; Allahumma Yassir wa laa tu’assir Allahumma tammim bil ghayr wa antal kareemu muyassir O Allah, assist those who assist the cause of Muhammad O Allah, assist all those who strive towards good in every place O Allah, make things easy for us and remove difficulty O Allah, complete us in Goodness, Truly You are the most noble of all those who provides assistance. Innallaha wa malaa’ikatahu yusolloona alan nabi… yaa ayyuhallatheena aamanu sollu alayhi wa sallimoo tasleema. Wa aakhiri da’waanaa anil hamdu lillahi rabbil aalameen Truly Allah and the Angels sends blessings and salutations on the Prophet Muhammad, O you who believe, send greetings and salutations upon him. And the final word is that all praise and thanks is due to Allah, the Authority over all creation. 29:45 Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration to thee, and establish regular Prayer: for Prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds; and remembrance of Allah is the greatest (thing in life) without doubt. And Allah knows the (deeds) that ye do. Let us stand for prayer!
