Student learning outcomes list: Upon graduation, students with a MA degree in History will be able to… 1) Articulate a thesis (a response to a historical problem). 2) Advance in logical sequence principal arguments in defense of a historical thesis. 3) Provide relevant evidence drawn from the evaluation of primary and/or secondary sources that supports the primary arguments in defense of a historical thesis. 4) Evaluate the significance of a historical thesis by relating it to a broader field of historical knowledge. 5) Express themselves clearly in writing that forwards a historical analysis. 6) Use disciplinary standards (Chicago Style) of documentation when referencing historical sources.*

3. How was the assessment accomplished? HST 600 Introduction to Historical Study No sections offered in spring 2013. HST 700 History Integration, HST 701 Masters Thesis 2 sections In all sections, the specific assignment or task evaluated was the following: Final Paper as graded by rubric.

5. Assessment results: What have the data told us? HST 600 We should assess this course at the end of the semester in which we offer it. HST 700-710 All students who completed HST 700/701 this semester met or exceeded expectations. These results suggest no need for immediate action. In part because the sample is very small. Since we seldom have more than a handful of these each year, we would like to collect data over a longer period of time before considering changes.
