“Mighty” – gibbor – Strong or Powerful “God” – El – Almighty, or Mighty One

“Unto us a Child is born...a Son is given” – “Son of the Highest” “of God” (Luke 1:31-32, 35) “His name shall be called…Mighty God” – “Immanuel” “God with us” (Matt 1:23) – “in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col 2:9)

To redeem us ( Titus 2:13-14 ). To abolish death & bring life & immortality to light ( 2 Tim 1:9-10 ). To destroy Satan’s hold over us ( Heb 2:14 ). To reconcile us to God ( Rom 5:10; 2 Cor 5:18; Col 1:21-22 ).

“From Everlasting” – ( Micah 5:2; Psa 90:2 ) “Before Abraham was I am” – ( John 8:56-59; Exo 3:14 ) “The First & Last” – ( Rev 1:17; 22:13; Isa 44:6 )

“God” – (Heb 1:8-9; Psa 45:6) “Great God & Savior” – (Titus 2:13-14; 2 Pet 1:1) “Jehovah” – (Mark 1:2-3; Isa 40:3) “True God” – (1 John 5:20)

“True God” – 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come & has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; & we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God & eternal life.

“True God” – 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, & he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, & he is eternal life. (NLT)

“True God” – Jesus accepted worship (John 20:27-29) – God commanded His worship (Heb 1:6) – He is the exact image of God (Col 1:15; Heb 1:3) – He is in the form of God (Phil 2:6) “Form” – morphe: the sum of qualities that make a thing precisely what it is.

We should desire to give Him our most humble & sincere obedience. We should have a sense of fear at the thought of doing something He would not condone. It should cause to rely completely on Him & follow His word in all aspects of our lives.

How else will you explain his mark on history? Nearly twenty centuries ago he was born contrary to all the laws of human reproduction. He lived in poverty & was reared in obscurity. As an infant he was exiled to Egypt to escape the wrath of a jealous king. His hometown of Nazareth was synonymous with that which is little & least. He seldom moved outside an area no larger than our county. Yet millions call him “Lord.”
