SAVINPO WEBINAR SAVINPO, also known as VPO, is the Protective Order service notification program. The system provides information on all types of protective orders. Also gives a 90 day notice that the order is about to expire. What’s in a name ? SAVIN = VINE (Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification = Victim Information and Notification Everyday) SAVINPO = VINEPO

To find information on both, go to www.vinelink.com and click on “statewide”www.vinelink.com (Users can link to SAVINPO on the King County jail site, but to download the brochure and link directly use the statewide site.) To register for custody status notification go to www.vinelink.com only www.vinelink.com To register for protective order service notification go to www.vinelink.com or www.registervpo.comwww.vinelink.comwww.registervpo.com

REMEMBER: SAVIN/VINE provides information about change in custody status including release, transfer, move to work release or electronic home monitoring. This notification comes within 15 minutes of the information being entered into the jail booking computer. It is a public website and available to anyone. This program is an important tool for a victim’s safety planning.

PROTECTIVE ORDER PROCESS IN WASHINGTON STATE 1.Petitioner gets order from the court. 2.Court sends copy to law enforcement to enter into the WSP database (within 3 days) 3.Protective order is served. 4.Service information is entered in WSP database (not in real time) 5.Service notification will go out within an hour of entry. Although the two systems work the same way, the primary difference is the length of time from the serving of the protective order to notification. This can be anywhere from one hour to three days. Work with your local law enforcement agencies to get a sense of how long it takes to enter the service information into the WSP database.

IT’S IN THE NUMBERS Total number of orders entered 6/1/14-8/31/14: 14,411 Total number of sexual assault orders: 418 Total number of permanent protective orders: 3,387 Total number of criminal no-contact orders: 6,676 Total number of site visits: 1,712 Total number active registrations: 164 Number of notifications: 390 – 222 phone, 168 email Obviously, there is work to be done to make this a viable tool for petitioners.

WHAT WE CAN DO TO ASSIST: 1.Work with courts to add program brochure or tear sheet to the protective order documents (find brochure to download on webpage. Brochures and tear sheets available by contacting Dawn Larsen at dlarsen@waspc.org)dlarsen@waspc.org 2.Help petitioners register or pre-register for notification. All that is needed is the PO number, respondent’s first and last name as they appear on the order, and the county of issuance. (pre-register means to enter the information before the order is entered into the WSP database. To pre-register call the SAVINPO operator anytime at 877- 242-4055 or become your agency’s approved VPOprotect access person)
