Project Background Shell Island West NRDA Restoration Project (BA-111) LCA Barataria Basin Barrier Shoreline (BBBS) Restoration Project Emergency Berm Project constructed in 2010 in response to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, constructed a portion of the Shell Island East Lobe (W8). Shell Island East Berm Barrier Island Restoration Project (Shell East Berm), constructed in 2013 with Berm Enhancement Funds. Shell Island West NRDA Restoration Project (Shell West NRDA) is the construction of the remainder of the East Lobe and the entire West Lobe. Shell Island started the design process as part of the BBBS Restoration project under LCA The dune portion of the eastern extent of the island was constructed under the 2010 Emergency berm construction as a response to the 2010 oil spill Berm Enhancement funds used to complete the construction of the Shell Island East Barrier Island Restoration Project, approximately eastern 1/2 of Shell Island east lobe Shell West NRDA completes the construction of the western portion of the east lobe, and constructs the west lobe Design of Shell Island West NRDA is complete and waiting funding Shell West NRDA is awaiting funding. Shell Island East Berm Project August 15, 2013 was the last day of dune fill placement. May 4, 2013 September 9, 2013 April 1, 2014 May 2013 aerial showing the construction of the containment dike prior to any dune or marsh fill Last day of fill operations was August 15, 2013 September 2013 aerial after all material placed April 2014 aerial shows the migration of the island to the west and into the design template for the Shell Island West NRDA project. Surveys will be taken at some time prior to the bid process so a redesign can be completed with updated volumes. Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana

6 Shell West NRDA East Lobe Shell East Berm Project
Project Features – East Lobe (as of May 2013) Shell West NRDA East Lobe features include: Marsh fill platform at approximately 3,000 linear feet +2.5’ NAVD88 Containment dike 486,200 cy 60 acres Marsh sand flat at approximately 5,000 linear feet +2.5’ NAVD88 Turbidity Control Structure on the landward/bay side (no containment) 93 acres Beach/Dune at approximately 7,800 linear feet +8.0’ NAVD88 Uniform dune width of 340’ 2,839,000 cy (includes marsh sand flat) 176 acres Marsh Fill (with containment) Access Channel Marsh Sand Flat The volumes shown here are the volumes prior to the construction of the Shell Island East Berm project. At this time the marsh fill platform is offshore material due to volumes available in the river, Will look into river sand for the marsh fill area during an update to the E&D Shell West NRDA East Lobe Plan View Dune/Beach Shell East Berm Project Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana
