Christmas is a family holiday because it celebrates the Christ’s birth. All people during this holiday prepare beautiful Christmas trees and cribs. Every region, in Italy, prepares different cribs but that of napolitan tradition is one of the most beautiful. In fact there is a little road in Naples “Saint Gregorio Armeno” where all cribs are displayed and craftsmen work hard all the year and do their best to make little statues to put on the crib.

Children, at Christmas lunch write a wishing letter, that they hide under their father’s plate to say all their love and promise to be good for the next year, the present company at the table give them money.

CHRISTMAS SWEETS In Naples, christmas preparations are tied up to the famous tradition of pastries: “ roccocò”, “susamielli”, “divino amore”, “zeppole” and “struffoli”. The good of fried “zeppole” (pastries) smell, that during the phase of the preparation, it soaks all clothes. Everything creates a warm and pleasant atmosphere. It is said the grandmother has always thought that, when the “zeppole” are going to prepare, it needs neither to show nor to smell to the envious people, they would burst themselves
