1 HITLER By Stephany Grant

2 J USTIFYING H ITLER ’ S RISE TO POWER Hitler’s power came completely constitutionally. He won the election fair and square, but he only became chancellor. Upon the death of the President, Paul Von Hindenburg, Hitler became President and Chancellor. This gave him lots of power in a short amount of time. He gave the desperate German people someone to blame for their suffering, the Jews, and also gave them a promise that he would bring the country back to its feet. During the great depression the German economy went completely under and millions of people were unemployed. He got many German people employed again and improved the quality of life by copious amounts. All of his promises seemed to be carried out and he made Germany a lot of money.

3 H OW HE LOST SUPPORT OF THE PEOPLE Hitler lost support from the same reason he gained it. When he achieved his power, it was because his people were desperate. When he lost his support, it was for the same reason. Germany began losing the war and many Germans were dying. His people were beginning to get desperate again. They were running out of food, resources, men, and jobs, just as they were before he came to power. It didn’t make sense to the people to support a leader who was doing more harm then good.

4 T O WHAT EXTENT SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT IGNORE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE People always find something to complain about. It doesn’t matter how good or bad a government is doing, they will still find a way to complain. There is no possible way to please everyone, and this is where the dilemma comes into play. The government should ignore the will of the people until its people begin to suffer. The role of the government is to provide for their people, especially when the government is elected. So of course they cant do what every single person wants, or nothing would get accomplished, and decisions would be left undecided, but at the same time, they have to be willing to listen to what the people are saying and try and do what’s best for the people. The government should ignore the will of the people until their people begin to suffer.
