1. ‘Fronting’ ~ 倒裝句 1. S + V + 地方副詞 Ex: A girl sat there.  There sat a girl. Ex: A boy stood by the door.  By the door stood a boy. → 地方副詞 + V + S

2. ‘Fronting’ ~ 倒裝句 2. S + be + Vpp + 地方副詞 Ex: George was attacked at the dark corner.  At the dark corner was attacked George. Ex: A man was locked behind the door.  Behind the door was locked a man. → 地方副詞 + be + Vpp + S

3. ‘Fronting’ ~ 倒裝句 3. S + be + V-ing + 地方副詞 Ex: A pretty woman is walking on the street.  On the street is walking a pretty woman. Ex: Mary and John was sitting behind the door.  Behind the door was sitting Mary and John. → 地方副詞 + be +V-ing + S

4. ‘Fronting’ ~ 倒裝句 4. Exception: If the subject is pronoun, ‘ 地方副詞 ’ can be put in front of the beginning of the sentences but we don’t have to inverse subject and verb. Ex: He stood there.  There he stood. Ex: It is here.  Here it is.

5. Practice 1. Underneath the huge Paris Opera House was a dark lake.  A dark lake was underneath the huge Paris Opera House.

6. 2. In the middle of the lake was an island. An island was in the middle of the lake. 3. On the island lived the lonely Phantom. The lonely Phantom lived on the island.

7. 4. Under the mask was a lonely soul with a great love of music. A lonely soul with a great love of music was under the mask.
