Prisms and Pyramids By Harrison
2
Prism A prism is a shape that can lay on this side long ways or up ways that doesn't have a apex. Every prism has straight long face. A polygon is a 2-d shape that forms a prism.
3
Pyramids A pyramid has a apex that is a the top of the pyramid.
The pyramid has a polygon as a bottom. The pyramids are named by their base.
4
The shapes of pyramids and prism
The shapes that form the different types of prisms and pyramids are eighther 2 shapes or 1 shape. The also have a form all different. These prisms and pyramids are 3d shapes.
5
Pentagonal prism A pentagonal prism has a pentagon on a face or side of the pentagonal prism. That forms into a pentagon. If you cut a pentagon in paper it’s a pentagonal prism. A pentagonal prism has 15 edges, 10 vertices and 7 faces.
6
Hexagonal prism A hexagonal prism is made out of two shapes.
1. a rectangle witch makes the sides, you need 6. 2. a hexagon witch is for the base and top, you need 2. The hexagonal prism has 8 faces, 18 edges and 12 vertices.
7
Rectangular based pyramid
A rectangular based pyramid has 2 shapes a rectangle and a triangle. 1. a rectangle has 4 edges, 4 vertices and 2 faces. 2. a triangle has 3 edges, 3 vertices and 2 faces. If you put them together you get a rectangular based pyramid that has 8 edges, 5 vertices and 5 faces.
8
Square base pyramid A square based pyramid is formed by the square underneath the for triangles that are connected to the square underneath. A square based pyramid has 7 edges, 5 vertices and 5 faces.
