3. Evaluation: Trade paragraphs with someone near you. You will “score” your partner’s paragraph in the following areas: Evidence – Commentary- Concluding sentence-

4. Feedback: Before you score them, answer the following questions completely: 1) Is there a minimum of 3 pieces of evidence and a maximum of 5? Point out of directions weren’t followed. Does each piece of evidence support the claim? Highlight or underline the strongest and most significant piece of evidence. Underneath the paragraph, explain what makes it most significant. 2) Does the commentary clearly explain how the evidence connects to the voice claim? Put a star next to the best commentary. Underneath the paragraph, explain what makes it the best.

5. Score- Evidence and commentary 4 32 Evidence is significant, specific and precise. Clearly connects to claim. Evidence is relevant, and specific. Evidence is only loosely connected to the claim. Commentary clearly explains the significance/connection of the evidence to the claim. Commentary explains what the evidence shows. Commentary is vague, is simply a restatement of the claim itself, or summarizes the evidence. Put the score for each (evidence and commentary), followed by an explanation for the score. Be as detailed as you can to explain your reasoning for the score.

6. Concluding sentence Does the concluding sentence connect the narrator’s voice to her coming of age experience? Does the paragraph seem complete after the concluding sentence or does it abruptly end? Write feedback below the paragraph about the concluding sentence overall.

7. Conventions Now go back and look at the conventions. Look for the title of the story to be in quotation marks. In text citation of quotes (par. 4). Correct end punctuation. WOD errors. Spelling errors. Apostrophe errors.

8. Share Talk with your partner about what you noticed in their writing. Be prepared to share and discuss as a class.
