The other reason that it was cruel is because it allowed no explanation, different classes get different punishments and violent punishment. An example of a code is “If any one ensnare another, putting a ban upon him, but he cannot prove it, then he that ensnared him shall be put to death.” (1) Hammurabi also created the first taxes in Mesopotamia
