5.  Background Information…  Eating shark fin soup in the marriage was concerned as the way of getting shark fin is rather cruel.  People started to concern about : Is it really necessary to eat the shark fin in the wedding banquets? 15. Answers from respondents a kind of waste in different aspects don’t have much feeling as it is only a dish It can be replaced by using other dishes. It will be very cheap if there is no shark fin soup. Hunting sharks for their fins is cruel Won’t eat shark fins anymore Analysis :  People do not care about the cultural meaning of serving shark fin soup as expected.  People concern about the environmental quality rather than the Chinese tradition.

16. Conclusion  More people think that shark fin soup is not important.  Many people think that environmental problem is more important than showing off.  People think that shark fins can be replaced by other food.

17. How can we strike a balance between traditional cultural practice and conserving the environment? Replace shark fin with vermicelli ( 粉絲 )  Shark fins don’t have taste at all. All its taste depends on the soup. Therefore, using glass noodle can have the same flavor with the shark fin.  Vermicelli has a high nutritional value. It also facilitates digestion. Retrieved from
