6. This really is a great place to work, but how do you make it work for you. Your “professional development plan,” which you should write may be the most important document you write all year. This can be used to keep you up to date in your current job or any job that you might do at the college in the future. This is an educational institution and guess what; we do support education of our employees in many different ways.

I am the president, again, of this organization. Helps keep me current in astronomy.I use the knowledge in teaching AS101 and AS102 and in diverse planetarium shows. I also take member of the science club to this sometimes. University of Maryland Observatory on Metzerott Road, cost free. Attend monthly Thursday Carnegie Evening at the CIW. Helps keep me current in all sciences.I use the knowledge in teaching AS101 and AS102 and in diverse planetarium shows. I also take member of the science club to this sometimes 16 th and P Street downtown, cost free. Attend GSFC weekly scientific colloquiums starting in October if I can get in. Security is a problem! 9. Attend twice yearly Chesapeake AAPT meetings. Helps keep me current in physic teaching and laboratory practices. As physics lab coordinator and as teacher of AS101 and AS102 and occasionally physics this professional meeting is very useful. This years Nov. 4, 2005 meeting is in college Park so expenses are very tiny. The March meeting will require some travel and a motel room. Apply before March 1, 2006 to attend a 6 week summer Institute sponsored by the Community College Humanities Association and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities “Maya Worlds in Chiapas, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize” June 18-July 29, 2006. This will make me more culturally diverse. I will be forced to learn some Spanish and a little Mayan! It will be a gift to my future grandchildren that will have Mayan blood! To improve my already successful planetarium show “ Ancient Sky Watchers of Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras, the Maya.” To eventually produce a planetarium program that other planetariums across the world will want to use! A planetarium show “Ancient Sky Watches of Mexico,” which we own is 25 years old and my perspective is more mathematical and calendrical than this old but excellent program. We have learned a lot in 25 years about the Maya. 25 years ago most of the glyphs could not be read now 85% to 95% can be read. Would like someone else to pay for the airline ticket to Villahermosa, Mexico and the return trip form Guatemala City, Guatemala. The stipend that covers internal travel and instruction is equivalent to $4,500 providing they let me go! Last year I applied and was wait listed. I could only go if someone dropped out. No one dropped out. To attend the monthly meetings of the Washington Pre-Columbian Society of which I have resent joined and attended their yearly all day Saturday multiple speaker Fiesta. To learn more about pre-Columbian society. These peoples watched the sky and have much sky lore to teach us today! To be able to offer planetarium shows on the Nasca line in Peru, (Rupert Chappelle and I have already helped the history channel on one of there videos on this) and Native North American Indians as sky watchers, too. This will be several years from now! Free to Montgomery College, very small cost to me. Go to the Education and Public Outreach meeting of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific Helps keep me current in astronomy and this meeting specializes in Education and Public Outreach which is what I do as planetarium coordinator..
