1. When we left our timeshare on the South Island, we drove from Wanaka to Christchurch, where we then flew on to Australia. On our way, we had lunch in Waimate, a very nice little community. Queen Street (the main drag) had colorful, interesting stores to see.

2. The blue building on the right served as a Tourist Information Center; we visited it briefly to learn a little about Waimate. The Country Kitchen next door looked inviting, but we didn’t eat there. We needed to find a restaurant that might have some gluten-free meals for Judy.

3. An interesting store on the Waimate main street. You can order fish, but eat chicken there!

4. This hotel might have been fun to stay in.

5. A “model” garage (closed for the day) had model cars on display; the painting on the side of the building showed New Zealanders shearing sheep, which is the main profession in the country.

6. We found a nice lunch spot called “Café on Queen.”

7. I had the veggie quiche and they fixed Judy a burger and salad.

8. A nice bar was in one corner of the restaurant.

9. Judy already picked a gluten-free dessert while waiting for her lunch.

10. Two angles on an interesting farm store and pharmacy.
