Love Is Never Boastful And Proud Charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 1 Corinthians 13:4 (KJV) September 14, 2014 Assistant Pastor Teddy Chang

I.The meaning of 1. Vaunt means to speak vaingloriously of; boast of : to vaunt one’s achievement. 2.Charity –KJV word for love. Agape is Greek word meaning that love conveys God’s will to His children about their attitude toward one another. Love for one another was a proof to the world of true discipleship. 3. Puff up means to become filled with pride, arrogance, or anger.

II.The examples of LOVE and HATE 1. Daniel Love-- King Nebuchadnezzar made Daniel a great man (Daniel 2:48). Boast hatefully– King Darius’ faultfinders (Daniel 6-7). 2. King David Love– David loved God much by talking pray fully daily and helping Israeli solders fight against the powerful Philistines.

Boast hatefully– Shimei’s boastfulness made his fellow people be impressed at his fearless action because he dared to curse King David, saying, “Get out, get out, you murderer, you troublemaker. The Lord is punishing you for the people in Saul’s family you killed…..(2 Samuel 16:1-14).” NCV

3. Jesus Christ Love—God’s unconditional love for us that sent His Son to die on the cross (John 3:16;1 John 3:10-11). Boastfulness—Lucifer puffed up his bright beauty and said himself in five words of “ I ”: 1) I will ascend into heaven. 2) I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. 3) I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north. 4) I will ascend above the height of the clouds. 5) I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12-14

III. God hates what Psalm 10:4 “The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts” Proverbs 16:18 “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the L ORD : though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”

IV. God warns us against man’s pride Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 15:10 “Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.”

V. Follow God’s Will for the Forgiveness and Peace Colossians 3:13-15 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
